I don't know where these ideas come from. I checked on Google maps and it only looked like a three hour drive. Perfect I thought. Lets get in the car and go. Since I now live in Australia I have gotten used to driving long distances to get anywhere, and three hours did not seem like a particularly long way. However, in my wisdom, I decided not to take the route that Google had mapped out for me. Instead I decided to go via a 'shortcut' which turned into a five hour journey. That in it self would not have been too bad if I had not forgotten to take into account the short amount of daylight that the UK gets at this time of year. It generally starts to get dark about 3:30 in the afternoon. This meant that by the time we actually got to Port Isaac it was starting to get dark. It was also very cold.
Not to worry, we just booked ourselves into a local hotel and resolved to stay the night and get up early the next morning and take some pics. That is indeed what we ended up doing. It was bitterly cold in the morning but I took my camera and tripod out and snapped away. You can see the house that was used in the Doc Martin series in the second image. It is the third house from the left on the hillside. Unfortunately, we had already made arrangements for that day and so could not stay long. A bit of a balls-up really but I did get some nice images from the mini adventure. We could have just sat around but even though all did not go to plan, we really enjoyed ourselves and that would never have happend if we did not get off our bums and see whats out there.
