Photosynth version 2

I have been having a play with the technical preview of Photosynth from Microsoft.  It is a clever bit of technology that allows you to merge multiple images to create a kind of virtual 3d environment.  It has been under development for several years now and over time it has improved vastly. I was at one of our local cafes, Enzos, when I shot the images below.  No fancy equipment. Just my iPad.  Once uploaded to the Photosynth web site, Microsoft uses their powerful computers to work out the clever Math that goes into making these images.   As well as doing the panoramas like the ones below, you can also do walk throughs.  By walking forward and taking a photo at every step you allow people to follow your foot steps. Although when played forward the images look almost like a video, they are photographs. They can be viewed individually.  I can see huge potential for this sort of thing. Just imaging what Real Estate Agents could do with this. For More information head on over to the Photosynth Web site.
